The Acorn Dental Surgery can be found on but set back from the easily located Barnwood Road, a 5 minute drive from Gloucester City centre. Our staff are all fully qualified and have many years of experience behind them. The practice provides ample accessible parking, ground level surgeries, fully disabled access and facilities and flexible opening hours.

The practice is a member of the British Dental Association Good Practice Scheme and its qualified dental staff are all registered with the General Dental Council.

Tim Wells BDS qualified from Birmingham in 1988. He has a continuing interest in professional development and gained the DPDS in 1999 after 4 years of study. He also has an interest in forensic dentistry and holds a Forensic Diploma. Tim lives in Stroud with his family. He has many hobbies but most of his time is taken up with looking after his 4 children. (GDC 63839)

Jane Brown qualified as a Dental Nurse from Birmingham in 1987 and then worked at a large teaching hospital in London. She qualified as a Dental Hygienist from Guys in 1990 and has worked in general practice ever since. (GDC 3877)

'Over 20 years with Acorn Dental Surgery

I have been going to Acorn Dental surgery for well over 20 years. I started going there when I was working down the road from them when they were in Longlevens in Gloucester. At that time I lived in Cheltenham. Since then I have lived in Stroud and currently I live in Bristol. Throughout all that time I have continued to go to Acorn. I have considered using a more local dentist but always decided in the end that it’s better to stay where I am, a decision I have never regretted.
Generally the staff at Acorn have always been very courteous, helpful and friendly which I always consider a very important part of any service.
I have been going to Jane Brown for my dental hygiene since she started working at Acorn and have always found her calm, relaxed and friendly approach a real boon and of course her skill as a hygienist and concern for her patients excellent. There really isn’t anything I can say that isn’t positive.
Before Tim took over Acorn Mr Day was the dentist there and I always thought he was pretty good. When Tim took over I was a little concerned that he might not be as good and I might have to look elsewhere. I was wrong as he was even better. Again, a very calm and relaxed approach, very friendly and always with genuine concern for his patients I have only positive things to say about Tim. One of the things I always value is the way Tim explains everything to me in a way that is very easy to understand. All the dental nurses throughout the years have been very good too.
All in all my teeth and gums are my inherited weak spot so I have had to have a lot of dental treatment over the years. Thanks to Acorn Dental Surgery I now have everything under control and my teeth and gums are better now than they have been for many years. In conclusion and in my experience I cannot recommend Acorn Dental Surgery highly enough.
One last thing or two that I have to say is that my wife has returned to Acorn after some years of trying other dentists and now realises the value of a really good dentist and surgery. Sometimes she falls asleep on the couch and I have nearly done so on several occasions, that’s because we are relaxed, confident in Tim’s skill and ability to keep any pain or discomfort to a minimum.'
